For my money week we have been exploring the values of different coins, how we can use coins to buy products of different amounts and the importance of saving our money and not wasting it in relation to food waste.
The children in reception enjoyed going on a coin hunt and matching the coins they found to the numerical value, they then used the coins to buy items in the role play shop. Having items at 3p and 4p encouraged some fantastic problem solving and reasoning skills. Children then learnt the value of the foods they buy and how by not eating what’s on their plate wastes money.
