Year 2 and 3 – Bedw a Helyg: My Money Week in PS2

This week we have been learning all about saving money for ‘My Money Week’. We learnt how wasting food wastes lots of money. We calculated how much money would be wasted if we didn’t eat parts of an orange or left food on our plate. We then discussed ways we could stop wasting food such as storing leftovers or finishing all the food on our plates. The children then made posters to teach others about the importance of not wasting food.

Year 2 and 3 – Bedw a Helyg: Polar Habitats

This half term the Year 2 and 3 children have been loving learning about polar habitats as part of our ‘Me and the Living World’ topic. We learnt about polar bear hibernation and how mother polar bears have to teach their babies how to survive on their own. We created puppet shows to act out the polar bears coming out of hibernation. We also created polar landscape collages using different materials. In our writing, we planned and wrote diary entries as Baby Bear on his first day exploring his polar home. In our outdoor area, we even created polar bear dens by selecting our materials and working as a team to problem solve.

Year 2 and 3: Rainforest habitats

Year 2 and 3 (Explorers) have been busy learning about different habitats and the animals that live there. They have previously learned about woodland, ocean, desert and polar habitats. The last habitat they have been studying are rainforests. The children have been learning about animal classification and food chains. They have reinforced their learning by sorting animals into different categories and by making their own rainforest food chains and food chain crafts. They have furthered their maths skills by putting their addition and subtraction knowledge and skills into practice by solving some numeracy-based rainforest themed questions. To improve their health and wellbeing, they have done some rainforest animal yoga where they pretended they were different animals in the rainforest. Finally, to reinforce their learning, they have made a rainforest animal information slideshow where they have chosen and included facts, information and pictures about various animals that live in the rainforest.
